Great news! We’re excited to release two brand-new election specials, the latest phase of MNN’s Race2Represent, a multimedia, multi-platform initiative providing New York voters with unprecedented access to hyperlocal coverage of the 2013 races.

Today we unveiled “Your City, Your Issues” and “Your District, Your Issues,” expert panel discussions exploring the 2013 races for mayor, comptroller, public advocate and City Council and the issues on voters’ minds as they head to the polls. Both specials are moderated by Ben Max, founder of DecideNYC.com, a popular new website providing voters in the five boroughs comprehensive information on local contests and candidates.

In “Your City, Your Issues,” Max leads panelists Azi Paybarah, Senior Writer at Capital New York, and L. Joy Williams, political strategist, founder of LJW Community Strategies and president of the Brooklyn NAACP, through an analysis of the mayoral and comptroller races: the issues driving candidates’ campaigns, the issues they’ve failed to address, and effects the new administration is likely to have on Manhattan residents.

For “Your District, Your Issues,” joining Max are Andrew Berman, Executive Director of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, and Marlene Peralta, Political Reporter at El Diario/La Prensa. The panelists discuss Manhattan’s contested City Council seats, the issues that have dominated and how the new Councilmembers will tackle district-specific problems like schools and housing.

“Your City, Your Issues” airs Tuesday, October 29 at 8:30pm, and “Your District, Your Issues” airs Wednesday, October 30 at 8pm. The shows will also be included in the election programming starting at 7pm on Sunday, November 3 and running all day Monday, November 4. All cablecasts are on MNN1 (TWC 34, RCN 82, FiOS 33) and stream live online at MNN.org, where viewers can comment while they watch and embed the videos on their own websites or Facebook pages. In addition, the specials are airing on MNN’s election “pop-up” channel, Verizon FiOS 37, a 24/7 stream of Race2Represent programming. You can also watch these specials online at MNN.org/manhattan-elections/specials.
