The Radical Imagination: Imagining the Gathering for Justice

In January of this year, an NYPD officer of color filed a lawsuit against the city and NYPD officials for allowing an illegal quota system and pressuring officers to target black men. Eleven other officers have since joined the case and they’re now fighting to put an end to racial profiling and discriminatory policing.

On this episode of “The Radical Imagination,” host Jim Vrettos talks with Carmen Perez, executive director of The Gathering for Justice and Justice League NYC, about the NYPD 12 lawsuit and the work she and her team are doing to support it.

The Gathering for Justice was founded by Harry Belafonte in 2005 to put an end to child incarceration and the racial inequalities in the criminal justice system.
