Take a look at the winners of the "Get Reel With Your Dreams" video contest where NYC high school students had the chance to create their own short films. The “Get Reel With Your Dreams” initiative's partners included WABC-TV, The Walt Disney Company, New York Women in Film & Television, Lincoln Center Institute, Manhattan Neighborhood Network, The New York City Department of Education and the Borough Presidents.

Online Publication Release In 2008 and 2009, the MNN Youth Channel along with a team of academics and youth researchers worked together to design and implement a citywide Community Needs Assessment (CNA). The primary aim of the CNA was to render visible and to understand the media needs and interests of New York City youth as well as to collect feedback for the Youth Channel All-City project, an initiative to create a youth-dedicated cable network for New York City and beyond. Black History Month is a remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. The remembrance was founded in 1926 by United States historian Carter G. Woodson as "Negro History Week". Woodson chose the second week of February because it marked the birthdays of two Americans who greatly influenced the lives and social condition of African Americans: former President Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist and former slave Frederick Douglass. World AIDS Day is recognized around the globe on December 1st and is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007 and an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007 making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007 of which about 270,000 were children.

WHAT: We proudly announced that MNN has been selected to partner with the City of New York in the celebration of Immigrant Heritage Week 2009 that will start on April 17 to April 23, 2009, with a series of special programming from 7:00 PM to 10:00PM during those dates.
This year theme diversity through community media, will continue with a series of programs showcase among them interview *with Writer Baslia Cabral, Painter Cuca Romley, Taxi Fleet Owner Dario Gonnel, Columbia University Professor of Industrial Engineering Jose Blanchett, Latinas Roundtable discussion, a conversation with Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, roundtable discussion with Family for Freedom.
